HERA Public Spaces Conference

HERA Public Spaces Conference

The famous European Solidarity Centre in Gdansk, Poland, has been the venue for the HERA Joint Research Programmes (JRP) «Uses of the Past» and «Public Spaces» Conference on the 11th and 12th of September 2019. Some members of the BESTROM Consortium (María Sierra, Eve Rosenhaf, Anna G. Piotrowska, Juan Pro, Tamara West and Begoña Barrera) attended this conference, which aimed to showcase the research being undertaken by HERA funded projects and to raise the profile of the Humanities among national research councils and the EU.

The conference was an excellent oportunity for us to reflect on the successes and weakenesses of the programme and on how HERA research can add value to the European research landscape in the future. We payed full attention to the advices of other teams that have developped their proyect in the last joint research programme «Uses of the Past», seeking to learn how to make the most of the two years we had ahead. Finallly, we even made time for a BESTROM meeting on the 13th. This was a very fruitful session, since we made a good progress in our internal scheduling and started to think about our next workshop, to be held in Helsinki on the 12th and 13th December.
